BIO

Rebelation is an eight-piece reggae-ska band from Norfolk, with a three-piece horn section, female and male lead vocalists and a rock-solid rhythm section. Influenced by 60’s Jamaican Ska, Rocksteady and 70’s Roots, with nods to Soul and Gospel, covering ageless subject matter, dealing with socio-political challenges, and bringing a vibe of positivity, hope and resolution

They had five releases between 2002 and 2009 on leading UK Ska label, Do the Dog Music, becoming one of their top selling artists. 2014’s ‘Arise’ album was released on Phoenix City/Cherry Red Records, who also digitally released their back-catalogue.  

In February 2023 Rebelation released new music on legendary US label, Stubborn Records, with another track released by Stubborn in July ‘23. A 12” release on US label Escape Hatch Record, Nine Inch Reggae, was released in August ‘23. Another new track, Ever Fallen in Love, for The Specialized Project’s Punk Pioneers album, was released in October ‘23. The band have almost finished a new full-length album, which is set to be released in 2024.The first single from the album, ‘Shine Like a Light’ will be out in Spring 2024.  

With a reputation as an explosive live act, Rebelation have consistently toured throughout the UK and Europe playing some top clubs and festivals, including headline slots at the London International Ska Festival, Cambridge’s Strawberry Fair and Kippertronix Festival, Wales. They’ve played some iconic venues, such as London Astoria, 100 Club, Thekla Bristol, Effenar Eindhoven and 4AD Diksmuide and many sell out shows, including a headline show at the legendary Camden Underworld in London and Camden Barfly, London, for the launch of the 2014 Arise album.

They have shared stages with acts such as The Slackers, Bad Manners, Laurel Aitken, Neville Staple, The Selecter, Snuff, Asian Dub Foundation, Soulwax, The Beat, The Toasters, The Pietasters, Zion Train and ex-label mates, The Skints.

Rebelation receive regular global airplay across mainstream and independent channels, especially in the UK, US, France, Mexico and Australia, have had several television appearances, film soundtrack appearances and featured in a book about the UK ska scene.
